Should babies drink soda pop?
So, I was doing research for something else entirely and this ad came up.
Here's what is says:
How soon is too soon?
Not soon enough. Laboratory tests over the last few years have proven that babies who start drinking soda during their early formative period have a much higher chance of gaining acceptance and "fitting in" during those awkward pre-teen and teen years. So, do yourself a favor. Do your child a favor. Start them on a strict regimen of sodas and other sugary carbonated beverages right now, for a lifetime of guaranteed happiness.
How scary is this?
It's no wonder we have such a huge obesity epidemic that is growing by the day. High fructose syrup is killing us, and we willing keep putting it into our bodies. Not to mention our fondness of technology which is keeping us from being outdoors, exercising and experiencing life.
Want to do your child a favor?
Get them off the computer, away from the TV and have them take a break from texting.
Take your child outdoors, go for a walk, a hike or swimming (wear sunscreen please).
Have a picnic in the park, go the zoo, play miniature golf or go to the batting cages
Ask them what they might like to try, and try it together
If we don't take an active role in making a positive change, our future will look pretty bleak!

I came across your post searching for the original quote, but appreciate your recommendations to parents to not make excuses and take responsibility for the future health and happiness of their children.
How scary is this?
50 years and we are now seeing opportunity of how and why we need to change. That is a powerful motivator and gives me great hope for our future and the future of my children to educate and make the changes to break the cycle.
But until we fix our diet and sedentary style NO healthcare system can be sustainable.
Scary?
We are the first generation that will not outlive our parents.
That is scary.
